Government of Ghana airlifts relief items to Sierra Leone
Africa and the world have been horrified by the mudslide and flooding that devastated parts of Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown. The disaster has killed about three hundred people and rendered about six hundred missing.
A volunteer in the relief efforts, Jibrila Sesay described the harrowing situation on the ground.
“We have been collecting corpses and pieces of corpses and bringing them to the mortuary. It does not stop.”
The bond of friendship is truly tested in times of need and distress and it is in the spirit of true friendship that the Government of Ghana has extended a helping hand to Sierra Leone in the midst of the misfortune that has befallen them.
The Ghana Government through the Information Ministry says items “will, later today, August 18th 2017, airlift relief items to Sierra Leone in support of relief efforts” in order to help alleviate their pain and misery.
