Let us support local businesses_Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong
The Chief Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group has bemoaned the negative attitude of Ghanaians towards local businesses. He made a clarion call to Ghanaians to give their full support to local businesses instead of engaging in activities that predispose them to collapse.
He admitted that starting and running a business in Ghana is very difficult as evidenced in the short life span of indigenous companies.
“There are Ghanaians abroad who want to come back and set up companies but they are afraid of the negative attitude of Ghanaians”
Similar concerns were shared by the United States Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Robert P. Jackson during a corporate governance lecture last week.
He says his unblemished business reputation over the years has been achieved due to his creative nature rather than greed as it has always been his desire to “see Ghanaians working and making a decent living”
Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong owns over 40 companies including Zoomlion, which is the largest waste management company in Ghana.
He owns the Road Safety Management Services Limited which has been awarded the mandatory vehicle towing contract which is facing stiff opposition from some Ghanaians.
He called on Ghanaians to help indigenous companies to succeed as this will help create employment and stop capital flight because profits of local businesses are spent in Ghana.
“Let us help our own indigenous companies to succeed and stop putting falsehood out that destroy local businesses”
According to him, his SUBAH infosolutions company saved Ghana 88 million dollars through SIM box fraud.
